About Us
KAM is a Mission Center of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in the United States and Canada. In faithful witness to our Disciples of Christ heritage, KAM functions as ecumenical ministry working with local congregations and not-for-profit organizations regardless of their denominational affiliation. In the last five years KAM has supported:Midway College (scholarships); Transylvania University (scholarships); Cowan Creek Mountain Music School (funding for Passing the Pick and Bow, instruments); Casey County Community Ministries (volunteers, clothing, food); Shelter of Hope in Ashland (cash and Week of Compassion grant); Fort Logan Cooperative Ministries (back to school material, food, and Christmas gifts); First Christian Church, Barbourville
(Christmas gifts and food); Garrard County Cooperative Parish (volunteers, clothing, food, Christmas gifts); Middletown Cooperative Ministry (clothing, food, Christmas gifts); Red Bird Mission of the United Methodists (clothing, volunteers); Corbin Food Bank (food and toys); West Care in Irvine (grants for family and children activities); Helping Hands Ministry in Pikeville (clothing, kitchen and household supplies); Harlan County Sheriff Chaplains (back to school supplies); New Hope Pentecostal Christian Center near Hazard (clothing, food); Dora Ross Corner Stone Ministry near Beattyville (over 300 volunteers, funding, clothing, food, toys, and back to school supplies); Kentucky Christian Missionary Convention (College Scholarships); Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster in Pike County (over 75 volunteers); HOMES INC, Whitesburg, KY (over 150 volunteers), Hazard/Perry County Community Ministries (food and personal items for the Homeless Shelter); Rockcastle County Schools after School Program (instruments, clothing, Christmas gifts), Madison County Alternative School (instruments); Housing Development Alliance of Perry County (funding gifts and over 150 volunteers), Olive Hill (Bedding, flood clean-up kits, household items); First Christian Church, Hazard (volunteers); Berea Community Food Bank (food).
