Kentucky Appalachian Ministry (KAM) is a
congregationally-based Mission Center of the
Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) Homeland Ministries and the
Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) in Kentucky. Our mission began in
January 1986 as the successor ministry to the Hazel Green Academy, a
denominational high school in Eastern Kentucky that closed in August 1983
after 103 years of service. Since then, our ministry has
grown to include 48 churches and over 6,500 members throughout
Kentucky Appalachia! Our primary focus is to partner with
local congregations to share the GOOD NEWS of JESUS
CHRIST!
Our Mission
-
To serve the wider Church by sharing the faith,
gifts, and experiences from the people and congregations of Kentucky
Appalachia.

-
To continue the mission of the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) to the people of Kentucky Appalachia through
our Eastern Kentucky congregations. This ministry is
directed toward meeting social, economic, educational, and spiritual
needs.
-
To discover ways to relate to the special
social and economic needs of Kentucky Appalachian people as they
work together in their own congregations and community-based
organizations.
-
To develop ways by which the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) can join with other people of faith in
regional ecumenical ministry.
