“Kentucky Appalachia is a land where family, friends, and visitors alike are welcomed and invited to “Stay a While,” recounts the Lon Oliver, the Executive Director of KAM. As a result, Oliver invited nine musicians with roots in Appalachia to contribute traditional Appalachian music from their previous recordings to a compact disk entitled “Stay Awhile.” The proceeds from the sale of the CD would go to KAM’s college scholarships and Kids Making Music program. The musicians gladly agreed to share their music without receiving royalties. The result was a collection of traditional Appalachian music as diverse as the mountain people and their musical heritage. The collection offers a view of Kentucky’s mountains shown through the haunting sounds of dulcimers, mandolins, banjos, soloists, and mountain blues. “Stay Awhile” was released to wide acclaim. To purchase a copy Contact Us. This cost is $12.00 which includes postage.
Proceeds support KAM’s Children’s Traditional Music Programs and Appalachian Leader’s Collage Scholarships.
We want to thank the artists who have all donated their work to this sampler. We all offer thanks to Bill and Dina Campbell at Stonebridge Press in Henderson, Kentucky and to Bill Johnson, technical producer. The music on this CD is the artists' gifts to you. So, "stay a while" and enjoy the music that belongs to Kentucky Appalachia!
